Greenhills is a family-owned Filipino grocery in the city of Ontario, California. Located inside an obscure shopping center on Vineyard Avenue just south of the 60 freeway, drive by and blink, and you'll likely miss it. GPS is your best friend for locating this medium size grocery store. Inside the market, you will find a fresh produce, meat, seafood, and fast food area surrounding the grocery area in the center of the store.

The selection of produce is limited; they do not have a big variety, but the produce are fresh and ready to be used in your favorite dishes. The meat section will custom-cut any available beef, chicken, or pork; they even carry goat meat as well as unique parts only Asians will eat. As you walk towards the back, you will see their freezer, and then the big voila in the back, the seafood department. They have a big selection of fresh fish, squid, and shrimps. They clean the fish for free, and will fry it for free as well if you ask. Steaming and grilling is available, but they do have a small charge for that service. Round out your horseshoe and you will find all these assorted housewares and knick knacks that you can't find elsewhere; little potato peelers, Asian soup spoons, metal plates for sizzling dishes, etc. As you head toward the front, you will see their fast food section.

The fast food section is actually also up front, depends on how you enter the store and whether you turn left or right at the entrance. Turn right and you get to the fast food section first, and end up in produce when you do the loop around the store. The fast food section is filled with freshly cooked Filipino dishes served point-point style. They have different combos, and you can enjoy 1, 2, or 3 items served with scoopfuls of steaming white rice. They also have Filipino drinks and delicacies that you can enjoy for dessert. The people at this store are very welcoming, greeting everyone walking in, and offering samples in the fast food so that you can try the individual dishes before buying. Their fast food section even offers catering. They will cater any Filipino dish, even goat kaldereta and dinuguan. The best part of this department is their halo-halo; ube halo-halo to be exact. Their halo-halo has ube flavored cream soaking all your scrumptious tropical ingredients. It's ube Heaven!

Before I forget, the grocery section is in the center of the store. They carry a wide-variety of Filipino items, from snacks to vinegar to crackers to ice cream to sardines. All those little chococates and sampalok I used to enjoy when I was a kid are all here. They have the margarine that my mom told me would make me grow taller if I ate it on my pan de sal. And speaking of pan de sal, they have a selection of Filipino breads and pastries, including hopia, sapin sapin, and biko. And you can wash it all down with Filipino sodas such as Sarsi and Royal Tru Orange. The beauty of this store seems to be that they carry a selection of products from all over the Philippines, so you will see products from Ilocos, products from Manila, products from Cebu, and products from Davao.
